Mrs. Harris

We just finished our extended text,  A Long Walk to Water. It was so exciting and emotional that it was hard to just read a couple of chapters a day! This was the story of Salva and Nya, and their journey to find water and family. This book took us across Southern Sudan as we followed Nya's search for water and Salva's search for his family after fleeing his war ravaged village! They both encountered many hardships and terrifying moments along the way before their paths finally crossed at the end of the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to learn about other cultures and enjoys lots of adventure in their reading!

  1. Mrs. Harris,
I agree that you should read this book if you love learning about other cultures! I loved reading about how Salva felt when he came to America for the first time. I can't imagine how that must have felt!
It was so hard for me to hold back my tears when Salva made it to the clinic in Southern Sudan!
